Letter from Xin:Season 1 Chapter 2 Update & More 2025.04.12

Hey everyone, I’m Xin, the game producer.

Long time no see! We’ve been deep in dev mode lately, but seeing all the enthusiasm and feedback from the community has been incredible—huge thanks to all of you. We officially announced the console release date two days ago, and it’s only been a month since the PC launch. During this time, we’ve been carefully reviewing all of your feedback—from optimization suggestions to new content ideas—and taking detailed notes to guide our future updates.

Today, I want to share some updates on what’s coming next—and answer a few of your burning questions.

Q: What’s the dev team been cooking up lately?

Our team has been focusing on three key areas:

  1. Finalizing the console version
  2. Developing new content
  3. Optimizing the game based on community feedback

First off, a big shout-out to our console players—thank you for your patience. The team has been going full throttle to deliver on our promise to launch the console version within two months, and we’re happy to say: that we’ve made it.

On the content side, we’ve got a full year’s worth of updates lined up. That means new chapters, new seasons, and a whole lot of exciting stuff coming your way. Don’t worry—we’re well prepared.

About those UI optimizations, many of you have asked for—we hear you. Especially around the cluttered lobby and event screens. We’re giving them a full redesign to make everything more intuitive, streamlined, and easier on the eyes. And don’t worry, a cleaner UI doesn’t mean less content—we’re also lining up even more fun and engaging event experiences.

We’ve also been closely reviewing feedback around arcade mode. We get it—rotation systems can be frustrating. Missing your favorite mode is never fun. But unlocking all modes at once could lead to longer matchmaking times. We’re currently exploring more flexible solutions, like mode selection options or intelligent rotation systems. We’d love to hear your thoughts as we continue working on this.

We’ve been working hard to improve the overall gameplay experience, and here are some of the key updates:

  1. Improved hitmaker logic: Reduced display delay under high-ping conditions for a smoother, more accurate shooting response.
  2. Enhanced hit reactions: Updated animations and sound effects to make each hit feel more impactful and responsive.
  3. Sprint adjustments: Ongoing tweaks to sprint mechanics to ensure movement feels snappier and more natural.

And yes—anti-cheat remains a top priority. This is an ongoing battle, and we’re in it for the long haul. We’ve developed a new behavior analysis system that tracks shooting patterns frame by frame, detecting and verifying suspicious activity in real time. This enables faster, more accurate bans—and the system is almost ready to go live.

Q: What’s Coming in Chapter 2 of Wild Dawn?

Chapter 2 drops on April 29, with early access content landing on April 25—there’s a lot packed in:

  • New Cards: As promised, we’re rolling out over 70 new cards. Shard Clash gets a refresh. Outbreak Mode and Team Deathmatch will see brand-new card content as well.
  • New Events: This season’s packed with events—and we’ve revamped how rewards are delivered. They will be unlocked progressively based on your progress: simpler, cleaner, and more rewarding.  Also, new players will get special login bonuses including Golds and Curiosity Pop Can—a solid head start. Bring your friends!
  • New Map: A brand-new map is joining the Team Deathmatch rotation.
  • New Lancer: A new Lancer is joining the lineup. Quick teaser: this one’s a high-skill, aggressive attacker with a wild twist that sets them apart. We won’t spoil it just yet, but trust us, you’ll want to keep an eye out.
  • New Modes: We’ve been refining arcade modes based on your feedback.Outbreak Mode is getting a major upgrade. We’re introducing a dual-deck system, where Survivors and Parasites each have their unique card builds. You’ll also see exclusive shard cards tailored specifically for Infection, adding more depth and strategy. And new Parasite variants and even more shard cards are already in the works.

We’re also adding two brand-new arcade modes to keep things fresh. Classic Clash is a no-frills bomb mode for fans of tactical shooters. On the other hand, Headshot Only is headshot-focused mode with a chaotic twist.

Fan-favorite modes like Blitz Ballet and Chaos Clash are coming back with improvements. We’re also shortening arcade mode rotations from 3 days to daily refreshes. TDM card balance updates are included too.

Also, the new season of battle pass drops on April 29. If you’ve been grinding, you’ll transition smoothly. If not, no pressure—it won’t expire, take your time.

Q: Will ranks reset after the update? Are the new cards hard to unlock?

Rank resets will happen with Season 2. Until then, keep climbing.

As for card unlocks—we’ve heard you loud and clear. Starting in Season 1 Chapter 2, all cards will be unlocked by default. No more grinding for cards.

Q: What about FragPunk Card War? When will those cards be added to the game?

The dev team has already kicked off the first round of selection. From global submissions before April 7, we’ve shortlisted 50 cards for the first voting pool. For submissions from April 8 to May 8, we’ll select another 50—100 total.

Players will vote, and 10 shard cards will make it into the game in Season 2 Chapter 2.

It may take a bit of time, but we want to get it right. That means proper tuning, balance, and collaboration with creators to make these cards truly legendary and community-endorsed.

We’re also looking to expand co-creation into other areas. More fun stuff is coming!

Q: Are any major events coming up?

Yup—time for a big one. As FragPunk hits its one-month milestone, we’re officially announcing FragPunk Global Invitational.

We’ll have seven regions: The Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan Regions, The US, Germany, France, Brazil, and Russia. Each region will select a representative team, led by a local manager who will scout and guide the top players.

The prize pool? $150,000. And the championship trophy? A custom piece crafted by Bad Guitar Studio just for this event.

The finals will be held offline in China, where teams from around the world will clash on the big stage.

Stay tuned—we’ll soon reveal the list of regional representatives, as well as invitational format and schedule details.

Q: Why a global invitational?

Before launch, we at Bad Guitar Studio used to host internal matches late into the night—working overtime and still squeezing in a few games. Even back then, we knew: FragPunk would be awesome to watch competitively.

Now that the game’s live, we’ve seen players across regions come up with incredible tactics. It’s inspired us to create a spotlight for the best of the best. Great strategies deserve to be seen.

We’ve seen CS’s heart-pounding aim duels and Valorant’s intense tactical plays—and now, we want to see what happens when FragPunk’s shard card system hits the pro scene.

A little secret, maybe there’s some personal selfishness involved—what FPS player doesn’t have an esports dream? Who wouldn’t want to be the one standing on the podium? Of course, at 30, we might not have that chance anymore, but I want to give our gamers a shot at living that esports dream.

Closing Remarks:

After the game launched, there were some voices skeptical about it, but what we’ve seen more of is the passionate recommendations from players who love FragPunk. Our team is deeply touched. Innovating within the Bomb Defusal genre isn’t easy, but three years ago, we chose to follow our hearts and create a game we truly love. For Bad Guitar Studio, developing FragPunk has been the most PUNK thing we’ve ever done!

Looking ahead, we are committed to long-term operation. We’ve invested a lot in this international competition, and in the future, we’re considering IP collaborations and offline events. Thank you to all the players who gave FragPunk a chance.

We are confident in the continued operation of this game. Bad Guitar Studio will keep improving FragPunk, just like we fix game bugs. Once again, thank you all for your support and companionship!
